Some Murder Mystery 2 weapons are everywhere. Others almost never show up in a trade. If you've ever wondered why one godly is worth a handful of commons and another is worth a whole inventory, it comes down to how rare it is and whether you can still get it.
Here's how MM2 rarity works and which weapons are the hardest to find right now.
How MM2 rarity works
Every knife and gun has a rarity: Common, Uncommon, Rare, Legendary, Godly and Ancient. On top of that there are a few special groups:
- Chromas are colour-shifting versions of godlies. They count as godly, but they drop far less often than the normal version.
- Ancients sit above godly. Most of them came from old Halloween and Christmas events and can't be unboxed anymore.
- Vintage and Unique items are from the early days of the game or were one-off releases.
Why some godlies are rarer than others
The biggest thing is whether a weapon is retired. Godlies that still drop from boxes keep coming into the game, so there are always more of them. Weapons from a past event stop coming in the moment that event ends. Every time a player quits or uses one up in crafting, there's one less out there.
Drop rates matter too. Even boxes that are still around are tough. In Mystery Box 2, each godly has around a 0.2% chance, and the chroma versions are closer to 0.004%. That's why chromas are so much harder to find than the normal godly.
The rarest weapons right now
Chroma Traveler's Gun
The chroma version of the old Traveler's Gun event godly. It's widely seen as the most valuable weapon you can actually trade for, and very few players have one.
Nik's Scythe
The rarest knife in the game. It basically never shows up in trades, so it doesn't even have a real value. You'll almost only ever see it in videos.
Gingerscope
The last reward from the Christmas 2023 event, and it took a huge grind of Snow Tokens to unlock. Not many players finished it, so there aren't many around.
Harvester and Icepiercer
Two ancient guns from Halloween 2021 and Christmas 2022. Both are retired, both look great, and both are a big step up for most inventories.
Icebreaker, Batwing and Elderwood Scythe
Ancient knives from past events. They're more common than the guns above, but they still can't be unboxed, which keeps them well above normal godlies.
Other old chromas
Event chromas like Chroma Bauble and Chroma Vampire's Gun are much rarer than box chromas such as Chroma Luger or Chroma Darkbringer, even though they're all "chromas".
How players get rare godlies
- Boxes and events: cheap to try, but the odds are tiny and event weapons leave once the event ends.
- Crafting: the Seer weapons are the easiest way into godlies, but it takes a lot of duplicates.
- Trading: the only reliable way to get one specific weapon. Check a current value list first so you don't overpay.
- Buying: if you'd rather skip the grind, you can buy it straight to your account.
