Mutations are the fastest way to make a brainrot earn more in Steal a Brainrot. The same brainrot can be worth a few cents or a lot more depending on the mutation it has, because each mutation multiplies its income per second.
Here's every mutation, what it does to income and how players get it.

So a brainrot making 100M/s with no mutation would make 1B/s as a Rainbow. That's why mutated brainrots cost more than normal ones.
Permanent mutations
Gold, Diamond and Rainbow can show up on brainrots that walk in on the Red Carpet at any time. Gold is the most common at around a 10% chance, and Rainbow is the rarest at about 1%.
Limited mutations
The rest, like Lava, Galaxy, Yin Yang, Radioactive, Cursed, Divine, Cyber, Phantom and Crystal, come from their own events and the Saturday Admin Abuse sessions. Once an event ends, that mutation usually only comes back in reruns or admin events. That's what makes them rarer, and it's why a Cursed or Cyber version of a popular brainrot is worth so much more than the normal one.
Eclipse is the exception. It comes from the Eclipse event, which runs about every half hour, so you get regular chances at it. It doesn't spawn on the normal Red Carpet, though, and even during the event it's not a sure thing.
New limited mutations get added with updates, so keep an eye on events if you're chasing a specific one. Server luck boosts also raise your odds of rare mutations while they're active.
Which mutation is worth it?
- On a budget: Gold and Diamond are cheap upgrades, but the boost is small.
- Best value: Rainbow gives a big 10x boost and is usually easier to find than the top limited ones.
- Max income: Eclipse and Crystal have the highest multipliers right now.
Whatever you go for, compare the price against how much extra income you'll actually get. A 10x Rainbow on a brainrot you already earn well from is often a better deal than a limited mutation on a weak one.
